Step #3: The landline and cell phone carrier lookup tool will extract useful information about the specified number, such as: time zone, national format, phone type, carrier name, mobile country code and mobile network code. On the original iPhone, the serial and IMEI numbers are printed on the back of the device near the bottom. Note: Some carriers use phones that don't have a serial number engraved on the outside surface. The serial number is available on those phones as part of the information displayed on the About screen. (See instructions for accessing that. For an iPhone, click Phone Number under your device name or the device model to find the IMEI/MEID and ICCID. For an iPad (cellular model), click Serial Number to find the CDN, IMEI/MEID, and ICCID. If you'd like to paste this information into Apple registration or support forms, choose Edit Copy Serial Number. The location of serial number varies from phone to phone, but usually it is found beneath the battery which is attached to the phone. First, switch OFF the phone. Now gently remove the back case and also the battery. There you will see a sticker attached and when you see the information on it, you will find the serial number of the phone. You can find the serial number of your device inside the Settings app.

  • You can find what model of iPhone you have by going to the Settings app.
  • Newer iPhones will tell you what model they are outright, while older iPhones will only give you the model number, which you'll have to look up.
  • To find the model number, tap the code next to 'Model Number.'

Since 2007, Apple has released over two dozen models of the iPhone. If you've had yours for a while, you might have forgotten which model you even have.

That's not a problem, though, because it's easy to find out in your iPhone's Settings app.

3. If your iPhone is running iOS 12.2 or later, you should see the model name listed on the third line.

If you have an older iPhone that can't upgrade to iOS 12.2, you'll have to do a little more sleuthing. You won't see an entry for the model name, but you will have a model number.

However, don't just trust the code listed next to 'model number.' For whatever reason, Apple doesn't actually list the model number by default — that's the SKU code, which won't help you here.

Instead, tap that SKU code, and it'll be replaced by your actual model number. This is a shorter code that starts with an 'A.' This is the model number of your iPhone, and you can easily use this to look up your model name.
